Steven Van Zadelhoff Wins $1.6 Million in WCOOP 2017 Main Event, While Russian Becomes the Best Player

The main tournaments of two categories ended last night. The latest World Championship Of Online Poker is ready to reveal its new heroes.

WCOOP-79-H: $5 200 NLHE (Main Event) with a $10 million guarantee became the culmination of the series. At the time of registration closing, the tournament compiled 2,183 entries (1,804 unique players and 379 re-entries). So the prize fund exceeded the guaranteed amount by $1 million. The prizes were shared by 278 players, and the successful Dutch pro Steven "SvZff" Van Zadelhoff, who plays online in Malta, appeared to be the winner. Steven sat at the final table in the status of an unconditional leader, being more than three times ahead of the nearest pursuer. A few hours spent to form the top 9 did not bring the Dutchman's mood down, and he easily transformed the advantage into the final win, earning one of the biggest payouts in the history of online poker.

The cheaper $215 NLHE (Main Event) tournament collected an impressive 15,626 entries and exceeded the two million guarantee by more than 1.5 times. The game at the final table ended with a deal between Finn "jaloviina007" and Brazilian "Pantoja RO". After the two players agreed on the heads-up payments, there were no surprises, and "jaloviina007" got the title. The finalists were paid $331,278 and $268,778 respectively.

The title of the best player of WCOOP 2017 was given to a player from Russia. Maxim "ImluckNuts" Pisarenko won one tournament and got to the final table for 6 times, gaining 830 points. The second place was taken by "MITS 304" with 805 points.
